Another good doco to watch, "The Marketing of Madness".

You need more passion than cash to set up a self-sustaining community, If you don't have the passion to find and watch Mike Reynolds "Garbage Warrior" don't waste your cash.

Talk maybe cheap but knowledge is priceless.

Gday Dowell and friends,
Not gone walk-about more sit-about. Surfing the net looking at all sorts of sustainable things from wind turbines to an eco dunny. I didn't get your message or I am not looking properly.

Another good doco to watch, "The Marketing of Madness".

Looked into shipping containers and they are about $2500 for a 2nd hand 20 footer. Then you need to transport it. Still keen 'Do-well' for the step out of society, have loose ends to tie up, snip off & run away from.

Keep believing people.

Hi Sheedy
Sent you PM with contact numbers. Sounds normal for s/containers heard you can sometimes buy cheap (rusted at one end) ones and cut and join 2 to together. You can put on a tropical roof helps to keep out rain and cooler to. There are are some great wind turbines, we have 4 on the community here cost around $500 ea with tower and stays. I like the look of the vertical turbines. I will check out The M of M.

Hi elfro
I know a guy in Aratula near Boonah who has been working on creating a 100+ ppl community there, ownership through membership $5,000 per dwelling and low rental to cover property maintinence, rates etc. He plans to set these up in all states so people can move around from one commuity to another at will. The dwellings which are in the design and prototype stage walls are build from light weight channel steel ( built to Aus builing spec's.)that can be dismantled and transported.
