EducaPoles
September 2010

September has been quite a month for Educapoles. The free "Class Zero Emission" workshop will reopen its doors for Belgian french-speaking schools as soon as mid-october. After rounding up the registrations and planning teacher sessions for the PolarQuest contest, the IPF published the new pedagogical tale "Balbuzard and the keys of knowledge". This tale will allow children to find out more on the reconstruction of the Earth's past climate through the air bubbles trapped in polar ice.

ExploraPoles
September 2010

Following-up on the "Northern Passage 2010" expedition, Explorapoles was able to witness a turning point in the history of the Arctic, as two ships succeeded in circumnavigating the Arctic Ocean in a single season, without having their progress hampered by the ice. Somewhat smaller than these ships, Börge Ousland's trimaran, "The Northern Passage" is heading down along the west coast of Greenland and will soon be on its way across the Atlantic.
