Good weather ensures pleasant tour on 42nd day

A total of about 403,000 people entered the Expo site by 9pm yesterday amid pleasantly balmy weather, among whom 159,286 were in 4,444 tour groups.

The World Cup opened in South Africa last night and some of the pavilions as well as restaurants turn on TV sets or large screens to offer World Cup opening live video. Several celebration activities were also held at these places.

About 45,000 visitors used free tickets distributed by Shanghai government to local residents. As of 8pm, more than 45,000 tickets were sold on site, with 14,197 night admissions.

Houtan gate received as many as 78,000 visitors, Changqing Road 66,000, and Shangnan Road, Gaoke Road W. 103,000 in total.

By 5pm, 87 performances had been staged, attracting about 104,000 visitors. Altogether 6,165 volunteers served on the site.

Five medical service stations inside the Expo site received 331 visits by 4pm yesterday.

Medical experts advised visitors that they should not bring food that easily go bad into Expo site in hot summer days.
