How to build your own wind turbine workshop, 15-20 feb 2008.
A five day course has been held in which the participants have learned everything about the design and construction of a small wind turbine by Hugh Piggott (http://www.scoraigwind.com).
It has gained hands-on experience in the following areas: carving the wooden blades, winding coils and fitting magnets into purpose built alternators for windpower. Besides fabrication, also other aspects like tower erection are involved in creating an operating working wind turbine. Many photos of the workshop are located on the following link (photos).
During the course, two battery charged wind turbines of different sizes have been build. The large freshly born wind turbine is erected and tested for operation. See for a brief image the movie below. The course gave insight in the building proces and covered the basic essentials of wind turbine design and shows how to deal with all the practical issues that arise during the construction.
