Wind generator idea
So I'm going to be building a little wind generator using a PM dc motor that i'm gonig to purchase, its high voltage and low rpm.. I don't have a ton of wind, however what I do have I want to try and use (and its a fun process).

I have a big separate detached garage behind my house (the garage is about 1500 s.f. and about 20-22' tall in the front with the roof sloping towards the rear. i want to mount the windmill 3-4' off of the top of the front roof.

My plan is to mount maybe a 2" galvanized steel pipe on the side of the garage with like horseshow brackets, let the pipe stick up 3-4' and then when i build my generator, have a 1.5" pipe or something similiar sticking down to put inside the 2" pipe for my bearing to turn. i'll run the wires from the motor down through the pipes into my garage. What I want to get is some sort of a charge controller, attach the generator to the charage controller, and then have like 20' of wire from the charage controller with alligator clips. I'm gonig to have a dodge pickup truck and a ford backhoe in the garage mostly sitting there, so i figured i could swap the wire every now and again to keep the batteries charged in those 2 vehicles.

Will that work? The truck i'll mostly just be usign in the winter for plowing, so i'll have the negative cable unhooked so it won't be drawing from the battery.. same thing with the backhoe probably..
